Here are some common questions about a real estate career.

Can I get a Real Estate License if I'm not a US Citizen or Florida Resident?
Yes. You do not have to be a Florida Resident or a US citizen to receive a Florida Real Estate License.
What are the qualifications to become a Florida Real Estate Sales Associate?
  1. Must be 18 years of age or older
  2. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  3. Take and complete FREC Course I with Baslers Academy of Real Estate
  4. Pass FREC Course I with a grade of 70% or higher on the end-of-course exam
What are the qualifications to become a Florida Real Estate Broker?
  1. Must fulfill 24 months of real estate experience during the 5-year period prior to becoming licensed as a broker.
  2. May be employed by: (a) one or more active brokers; (b) government agency as employee performing real estate licensee duties; or (c) out-of-state broker licensee for 24 months during the preceding 5 years.
  3. May apply out-of-state experience.
  4. Must have completed the 45 hour salesperson post-license education requirements if became licensed as a Florida Salesperson. Before taking RE Broker Class.
  5. Visit www.myfloridalicense.com print and complete form RE-2.
What are the steps to obtain a Florida Real Estate License?
  1. Enroll in the proper Florida Real Estate licensure course.(i.e. Frec Course II)
  2. Submit application for a Florida Real Estate License. (Provided by Baslers Academy of Real Estate) or online at www.myfloridalicense.com under apply for a license.
  3. Submit electronic finger prints by Pearson Vue. For appointment call 1 (877) 238-8232.
  4. Pass end-of-course exam with a grade of 70% or higher.
  5. Wait and Check application status on-line for notification that you are eligible to take the state exam.(Meanwhile you should be studying and practicing State Exam practice material, available through Baslers Academy of Real Estate)
  6. Schedule and Pass the State Exam with Pearson Vue, within 2 years of completing the end-of-course exam.
What is the next step after passing the state exam?

If you want to work as an ACTIVE real estate licensee, you must register with a Real Estate Brokerage Company or an Owner-Developer. You will be asked to complete Form RE-1. The Brokerage Company or the Owner-Developer will then notify the Florida Real Estate Commission that you are employed by them. You are now ready to start your real estate career.

If you do not want to start working in real estate at this time, you will be considered an INACTIVE licensee. You will NOT be able to do any of the services of real estate until you decide to ACTIVATE your license with a Real Estate Brokerage Company or an Owner-Developer.

Are there any other required courses after I obtain my first license?

YES. Your first license is a conditional (probationary) license. It is NOT a 2 year license. It will be an 18 month to 22 month license. When you receive your first license, please look at the bottom. It will give you the expiration date. To renew your first license you MUST TAKE A 45-HOUR POST LICENSE COURSE. If you do not complete and pass this course before the expiration date, your license will be NULL AND VOID.
